With different retailers come different requests as do design requirements from the project developer, civil engineer and there are aways local jurisdictional requirements that must be met. The goal was to get everyone on the same page and Cuhaci Peterson accomplished this by getting all stakeholders to communicate graphically on what was required.
The Mills Park retail project provided Cuhaci Peterson a unique opportunity to bring numerous shops, eateries and a grocery store to the site of the former Nebraska Lumber Company located in a trendy Orlando, Florida neighborhood within the Mills 50 district.
Project Key Facts
The project featured reclaimed wood from the old lumber yard in trellises and signage throughout, as a way to recapture the historical significance of the site.
The former Dinky Line Railroad, which bordered the development on the East, was converted into The Orlando Urban Trail. Area residents love these bike and walking trails that have become key in the connectivity of Mills Park to the surrounding neighborhoods. Services provided by Cuhaci Peterson included construction administration, construction documents, design development, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering as well as fire protection and permitting services.
In the end, these new builds offered the vendors the utility they desired and honored old sites all the while giving the local community a new place to thrive.
